Mahjong 102
Mahjong 102
🀄 Mahjong 102: Strategy at Prairie Creek
You know how to play — now let's talk about how to win. Mahjong 102 goes beyond the basics into real strategy: reading the discards, playing the Charleston with intention, and knowing when to hold, pivot, or bail on a hand.
What we'll cover:
Hand selection — picking a hand you can actually build, and knowing when to pivot away from one that isn't coming together
Charleston strategy — what NOT to pass (jokers, flowers, pairs, runs), and paying attention to what comes back to you
Discard strategy — getting rid of unwanted flowers early, ditching tiles your opponents need before they lock in, and not exposing your hand too soon
Reading the table — tracking discards, spotting a floating pair, and calling a hand dead when it's no longer viable
Common mistakes — why picking a hand too early (and sticking with it no matter what) is the fastest way to lose
How the class runs:
We'll start with a guided round — discards laid out in front of each player so everyone can see what's being revealed and why — followed by independent play so you can put the strategy to work on your own.
